Hannan’s Quality Meats – North Bondi
Migrating to Australia from Ireland in 1854, the Hannan’s have long been known as a prominent family of retail butchers among the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney. Expanding the family business to Rose Bay in 1930 amidst the Great Depression, John Hannan’s grandfather ‘Jack’ (John) Hannan began a family legacy of sons which served the local people for over seventy-three years.
John Hannan continues his family tradition of butchering. Since selling the former family shop in Rose Bay in 2003, he moved to establish a new era of butchering in North Bondi at 50 Blair Street.
He’s firm believer in offering excellence in customer service and products, Mr. Hannan has since won first and second place for his famous sausages in the 2009 inner-metropolitan Sausage King Competition for the Gourmet/Open and Pork sausage classifications respectively
Recalling his decision to venture into another butcher shop, Mr Hannan remarked “it’s a family tradition and one I’m greatly proud to be a part of. I have many fond memories of visiting the Rose Bay shop [then owned by his father] after school as a boy, helping where I could. Today my passion for butchering is as strong as it was twenty years ago; butchering is truly in my blood”.
Today the name ‘Hannan’ continues to be synonymous as a family tradition based on providing superb service and premium quality products to customers new and old.
